EMIMA EDUCATION SUPPORT PROJECT (PEER COACHES EDUCATION)

Preamble;
Education support project is a project amongst the other projects in EMIMA whose main aim is to provide education support to the peer coaches in the organization.

The Project has the growth plan or development vision of the project, and has identified the needful peer coaches whose heart full aspiration is to continue with education. But because of their poor background they have not been able to go to school.

The most needful peer coaches found in EMIMA’s seven centres have shown great desire and put more effort in the success of the day to day activities of EMIMA.

The seven centres are;
Mtoni, Buguruni, Vingunguti, Makuburi, Vihata, Mivinjeni and Kiwalani.
And in each centre there is a needful peer coach.

Aim;
With the ideal idea of their education, they will be motivated more into the world of leadership, leadership of the organization and be competent peer leaders to the community they come from.


The Targeted groups are;
(a) Orphans
(b) Children who live in difficult situation like
(i) Those whose parents have been infected and affected.
(ii) Those living with single parents, especially those who have lost one of their parent because of HIV/AIDS and the remaining is infected
(iii) Those whose families are impoverished and had been hardest hit with effects of poverty. Thus cannot meet educational costs of their children.

Criteria of selection;
Children to be sponsored are selected from the targeted groups on the basis of the following criteria:
(a) Overall school performance per annum should be above 60%
(b) Evidence of social commitment. This is measured by one’s activeness in participating in various social programs conducted by EMIMA e.g. Environmental concentration programs, sports, national and local tournaments etc.
(c) Talents and recommendable social behaviour, This is discovered through observation and discussion at different social settings i.e. at school, home, EMIMA centres, while on visits, etc
(d) They have to participate as peer coaches where they teach/coach other (12) twelve younger children about sports and HIV/AIDS.
